The tradition of watchmaking in eastern Bohemia goes back to the second half of the nineteenth century. In 1949 this continued in newly built factories in Nove Mesto and Metuji, which under the brand name Chronotechna began marketing the first Czechoslovak wristwatches. Since 1949 over 16 million watches have left the factory and the most of them are still working!
After 1989, the factory gradually phased out mass production of watches and clocks, and thanks to the immense creativity and experience of its staff has developed a new business and product strategy. ELTON, now a private limited company, is a watchmaker with an ability to focus on customer needs.
With some of the most modern production lines in the watchmaking world, ELTON is truly unique in its ability to make completely custom mechanical watches. Their factory currently produces new mechanical movements of its own design: the PRIM caliber 94 with manual winding and PRIM 98 Automatic movement, which are mounted in own design watch cases. ELTON creates PRIM warches in small batches. Each part is made in-house, enabling designs to be custom produced in a wide variety of metals and finishes
There is nothing quite like the feel of a traditionally made watch.
